Please join me in congratulating Jen William, professor and Head of the School of Languages and Cultures, for the recent publication of her co-edited book, The Tender Gaze: Compassionate Encounters on the German Screen, Page, and Stage (Boydell & Brewer 2021). This new essay collection develops a new supplemental gaze theory known as the “tender gaze” and traces its occurrences in German film, theatre, and literature. Jen’s own essay on post-dramatic theatre is included in the volume.
Additionally, Jen, along with co-author Howard Mancing, Professor Emeritus of Spanish, signed a contract with Palgrave McMillan Publishing for a forthcoming book in the series Cognitive Approaches to Performance and Literature, out sometime next year.
Congratulations, Professor William!
