Jay Gephart

Please join me in congratulating Jay Gephart, Al G. Wright Chair of Purdue Bands and Orchestras and director of the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band, for his election as vice president of the American Bandmasters Association at the organization’s recent convention in Fort Worth, Texas. Jay will serve as vice president in 2018, president-elect in 2019, and president in 2020. 

In addition, the Indiana Music Education Association recently named Jay as the 2018 Outstanding Collegiate Music Educator of the Year.

Jay is the second Purdue band director to be elected ABA president, following Wright, who held the position in 1981. The ABA recognizes outstanding achievement on the part of concert band conductors and composers. Approximately 300 band conductors and composers in the United States and Canada are members.
