How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I learned about this internship opportunity through connections in my hometown of fishers, Indiana and through extensive searching on LinkedIn.

How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?

My internship allowed me insight on what it is like to work for a government entity and really exercise my writing skills and project campaign skills as a Public Relations Major. Being a liberal arts major at Purdue helped me immensely during this internship as I felt my writing skills were very up to par with what was asked/needed of me.

What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?

Start looking early! Put in the work if you are passionate in gaining an internship.

What key responsibilities or tasks have you taken on during your internship?

I was in charge of maintaining community engagement through our social media platforms, helping campaign for the Geist Half marathon, create content for social media, write press releases and blogs for the city, and finally create a project campaign for the Geist Half Marathon as my final project!

In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?

Being a CLA student was dire in my internship search as we are so lucky to have our job ready program to gain hands on mentorship and guidance in our internship process, as I know it is not always an easy search. I was really struggling with the process and not getting a lot of turnover in my applications, but when I schedule a one on one meeting with CLA Career Services and they helped me so much with the process and I would recommend all of our CLA students to utilize!

Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?

A highlight aspect being a part of this program was utilizing our career services guidance in helping me talk through the internship process.
