I learned about this internship opportunity through one of my professors at Purdue University. They shared the information on this internship as it aligned with my experience and interests in my major.
How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?
This internship has helped me build my skills in practical experience for my field as I got to shadow and learn directly from experts. Being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue has helped me with networking amongst others at my internship, and open up new offers for me in the future.
What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
Look into internships focused on practical experience in anthropology, so that you can see how a practicing anthropologist can fit into the workforce.
What key responsibilities or tasks have you taken on during your internship?
During this internship, I had many specific responsibilities related to museums and archaeology. Not only did I get experience in the field, but I also got to work in the curation of museum collections, archives, and inventory.
In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?
The College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University has given me the resources I need to succeed in my field. The professors in my CLA major have helped me with advice for my internship, future career goals, and more. After returning from my summer internship, I am now prepared for the next steps of synthesizing my research into conference presentation and posters.
Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?
The most important experience during this internship was connecting with other undergraduate students pursuing the same field as me, where I can build a network of like-minded individuals to help achieve our goals together.
