How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
Boilers Go to D.C program director sent me the application after I won the Ag Public Policy Program Scholarship.
How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?
I was in between pursuing a career in the government politics sector but after spending a summer in Washington D.C. My path became a little clearer on where I want to start at. The communication skills I learned during classes at Purdue were helpful in communicating with staff and networking.
What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
Apply to much as you can but also apply to opportunities outside of your major and interests because you never know where it could lead.
What key responsibilities or tasks have you taken on during your internship?
Communicating trade and tariff news frequently and effectively to clients and to supervisors.
In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?
Without the Job-Ready program, I wouldn’t have had the chance to live and work in our nation’s capital. After this summer I became more interested in the global food studies and international relations sector, CLA has various minors and concentration to help fit what I want to do. This summer not only launched my career but also inspired me in countless ways.
Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?
The programs feature "takeovers" I found to be the most standout aspect of the program because it allowed students to show what they have been accomplishing but also for students to see the different opportunities their major could hold.
