1.) How did you learn about your internship opportunity?

I learned about this opportunity through LinkedIn!

2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship

This internship has shown me that I want to pursue commercial interior design in the future, after spending time interning at a residential firm last summer. Being a liberal arts student at Purdue equipped me with the versatility to jump in on a bunch of different projects throughout the summer, helping me to gain a deeper understanding of both interior design and architecture.

3.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?

Go to the career center!! There are designated people there to help you find the perfect internship for you, and help you along the way! Also, make connections, your connections will take you so much further than just searching job boards.

4.) What key responsibilities or tasks have you taken on during your internship?

Throughout this internship I did a bit of everything! I worked on modeling hotel guest rooms, club houses, material and furniture selection, organizing company resources, and construction documentation!

5.) In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development? Please elaborate on the significance of being a CLA student.

Job ready gave me the opportunity to take the step and move to a new city for the summer. Having the opportunity to participate in job ready is such a valuable experience as a liberal arts student because it gives you the opportunity to take an internship you wouldn’t be able to otherwise because of monetary constraints. I was able to live downtown and walk to work everyday thanks to job ready!

6.) Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?

Throughout the summer I worked directly on a project in my hometown of Cincinnati. As a part of this project I modeled guest rooms for a hotel downtown. Having My first real project being a project in my hometown was so special and was so rewarding to present to the team of interior designers as my internship wrapped up.
