1.) How did you learn about your internship opportunity?
I discovered this internship opportunity through Purdue’s Industrial Roundtable career fair. It was a great chance to connect with recruiters from various companies, and I found the position I applied for through that event.
2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship
This internship allowed me to build both my technical and leadership skills. Working on the development of a centralized dashboard helped me enhance my analytical and technical abilities. It also clarified my career goals by confirming my interest in combining technology with criminal justice. As a Digital Criminology major, I was well-prepared to approach challenges with a unique combination of technical expertise and human-centered thinking, which proved valuable in my role.
3.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
I would advise them to take full advantage of Purdue's career fairs and networking events, especially the Industrial Roundtable. Don’t be afraid to apply for internships in tech-related roles, even if they seem outside the traditional liberal arts path. Focus on how your major equips you with a broad skill set, such as analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, and communication skills, all of which are highly valuable in various industries.
4.) What key responsibilities or tasks have you taken on during your internship?
During my internship, I led the development of a centralized dashboard, integrating data from multiple systems to provide actionable insights. I collaborated with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, implemented the dashboard, and provided regular progress updates to leadership.
5.) In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development? Please elaborate on the significance of being a CLA student.
CLA offered resources like mentorship and career workshops, which gave me the confidence to pursue and excel in a technical internship. Being a CLA student means having access to a diverse skill set, combining critical thinking, communication, and technical proficiency, which is crucial for succeeding in a technical environment.
6.) Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?
One standout aspect of my experience, such as interview preparation and professional development, helped me feel fully prepared to take on the internship and thrive in it.
