Majors: Philosophy & Economics

Intern at Tabor Communications

How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I learned about this internship opportunity from my program director, Samantha Ooley.

How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?  How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?

Through this internship, I've improved my formal communication skills and gotten an inside look at the way a company is run. My liberal arts degree has helped me to understand how to write compellingly.

What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major  looking for an internship?

I would look for internships in places that might not seem like they have space for a philosophy major: The skills you gain from this degree are useful everywhere.

What specific responsibilities have you undertaken during your internship?

I've been in charge of both writing and editing certain articles for the company's website.

In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?

The CLA provided a job-ready scholarship to allow me to work over the summer, along with my program director letting me know about the opportunity in the first place.

Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?

One experience in this program that I really enjoyed was writing an article about a study that measured AI development compared to human flourishing. I find the intersection of AI and philosophy fascinating!
