Community Advocacy Program Intern, Disability Rights Legal Center

1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I learned about this internship opportunity by searching for different law and policy related internships, and specifically ones related to disability rights as that is my main area of interest.

2.) How has your internship helped you build your skills and clarify your career goals?

This internship has helped build my skills and clarify my career goals by solidifying that a career in law is what I am interested in. Getting exposure to the legal field and seeing how a firm functions, particularly one that is focused around a sect of the law that I am interested in, was incredibly important to me to ensure that law school and becoming a lawyer is the right path for me.

3.) How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?

The writing and conversational skills I learned in my time as a Liberal Arts student have been crucial to my success in my internship.

4.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?

My advice to someone seeking an internship in my major would be to first figure out a career path that is best suited for your interests and goals. An internship can be a great opportunity to explore that career and ensure it is the correct path for you. Apply broadly and early in the internship application cycle.
