Public Relations and Marketing Intern, The Borgen Project

1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I did some research on my own. Mostly, I used LinkedIn to make my search goal more focused. I also checked out CLA's career page to find out about students at Purdue and what they were doing.

2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?

Above anything, the internship has helped me work on self-discipline. Since my work is completely remote- I started off pretty rough and had a hard time developing the self discipline. Regardless, I took initiative to reach out to my supervisor for guidance. I adapted to becoming comfortable with admitting where I was lacking off and learned how to deal with fall offs. My career goals became clarified than before as I discovered my innate skills and abilities and how I could use them to contribute towards any organization I work for.

3.) How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?

The things I learned from my communication classes helped so much! Liberal Arts skills consists of focusing on soft skills, and as it turns out you mostly end up using those soft skills on a day to day activities.

4.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?

My advice would be to just your research on your own, reach out to career centers, talk to your advisor, and make good connections. Basically, make the most out of all the resources that we have available.
