Major: Visual Communication Design

Graphic Design Intern, Milliman

1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I learned about this internship by looking through internship openings on LinkedIn.

2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?

This program allowed me to experience what it would be like to work as a graphic designer, and it solidified my passion for this kind of work. It also gave me a sense of what kind of company culture I want to be a part of a what kind of people I work well with, which is going to be valuable information for me to keep in mind as I continue moving forward in my career.

3.) How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?

My Liberal Arts skills were seamlessly integrated into my daily work as a graphic design intern. Every day, I came up with original ideas for making mundane information clear and visually pleasing. I used software that I was familiar with from classes, as well as software that was new to me, but I was able to catch on the new skills by building upon those I already had.

4.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?

I would say to not give up hope, event when the rejections are discouraging. The right job for you is out there, and rejection is redirection that leads you closer to your career goals.
