Majors: Marketing; Visual Communication Design

Graphic Design Intern, Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center

1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I learned about my internship opportunity through our awesome Art and Design Internship Coordinator and Visual Communication Design professor, David Deal!

2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?

My internship has allowed me to sharpen and expand my skill set as a designer as I have had the opportunity to explore many different types of design and work within different departments and stages of the design process. I have also learned how to juggle several projects at once and how to work within tight deadlines. Throughout my internship I have also gained experience working with various clients through series of project drafts and eventually project approvals.

3.) How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?

I utilize the skills and knowledge I have learned during my time as a Visual Communication Design student every single day at my internship. In order to complete projects given to me, I have to apply software knowledge, design principles, and experiences that I have learned throughout my time at Purdue.

4.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?

The best advice I could give someone looking for an internship is to start looking early and use all of the amazing resources offered at Purdue to your advantage! There are so many people and platforms offered by the university with the main goal of helping you land a great internship/job so take advantage of them while you can!
