Shawn Carr

Shawn Carr is a Senior Renewable Energy Analyst for DTE Energy, a utility company with a portfolio including electric and natural gas, and non-utility businesses focused on industrial energy services, renewable natural gas, and energy marketing and trading.
Shawn joined DTE Energy in 2018, working in their Corporate & Government Affairs business unit until 2022. In 2022, joined Strategen, a clean energy consulting firm based in Sacramento, California. In this role he worked with various clients of the firm across the country in helping them to better engage with key constituents and develop more effective dialogue on contentious energy issues such as green hydrogen deployment.
Shawn returned to DTE in 2024, where he currently serves as Senior Renewable Energy Analyst for the company's Renewables and Energy Storage business unit. He has worked on regulatory filings and financial evaluation of storage projects to help find cost effective projects that will help the company meet its carbon reduction and energy storage deployment goals.
During his time at Purdue, Shawn was part of the Dammon Dean program his freshmen year, where he met his wife, and served as the President of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society. His time at Purdue helped shape his career aspirations and interests as well as sharpen his critical thinking skills. Currently he lives in West Bloomfield with his wife and their daughter.
