How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
CoolWorks!
What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
Find an internship that will involve a lifestyle you love! Work you love will be more rewarding than you work you think you should be doing.
What key responsibilities or projects have you taken on during your internship?
I took on project management for conservation projects. I did a lot of communication with federal project partners and adult management to execute these projects to spec!
How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?
This internship was an AmeriCorps position and Americorps highly values linking the service work to the community or environment you are serving in. I utilized my CLA experience in this position by being able to articulate the larger scale current issues that our work had ties to.
In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our Job-Ready program specifically aided your professional development?
The Job Ready program made this internship possible and easier by eliminating some of the front end financial stressors of getting to do this type of work.
Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in the Job-Ready program that you find particularly noteworthy?
I was pretty remote from before to after the internship. Kristi Roza-Cabello was always sending check-in emails and ensuring I had the resources I needed to participate in Job Ready. Her check-ins throughout the summer helped me reflect on what I was actually doing and take note of what I was learning!
