Event Operations Intern at Indianapolis Colts
How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
Start early, apply to many, don't be afraid to apply to internships that seem like a long shot or aren't exactly what you want to do.
What key responsibilities or projects have you taken on during your internship?
Working during Indianapolis Colts training camp, setting up sponsor and fan activations each day and contributing to the overall set up and run of show of each day of training camp. Setting up Touchdown Town before each Colts home game and helping with on-field and in-stadium entertainment during games.
How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?
I worked as an events intern and this internship helped me realize that I don't want to work in events. Having exposure to other departments through this internship gave me an opportunity to learn about other roles in professional sports. Being a CLA student, I was using skills like communication and recalling my experiences in SCLA 300 in networking and professionalism.
In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our Job-Ready program specifically aided your professional development?
I felt prepared to enter the environment of my internship because of my experiences as a CLA student. Being a Job-Ready participant allowed me to focus more on my work and less on how to afford transportation each day. Having support from CLA made me feel like I had a community around me that genuinely cares about my success and future.
Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in the Job-Ready program that you find particularly noteworthy?
There were many parts of support from Job-Ready. I personally enjoyed seeing other participants doing Instagram story takeovers because it gave me an idea of what other participants are doing in their internships.
