How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
I learned about the internship through a connection from Purdue.
What is a piece of advice you would give someone in your major looking for an internship?
You, as a communicator, are in the business of people. The best way to develop your skills as a communication professional is to network. Don't be afraid to reach out to someone in the position you want to be in... it may just lead to an internship opportunity!
What key responsibilities or projects have you taken on during your internship?
During my internship, I was responsible for drafting legal documents, writing and sending engagement letters, managing client relationships over the phone, and assisting with legal research.
How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?
Being a legal intern has helped develop my foundation as a future legal professional. I have learned how the day-to-day works at a Law Firm, and it's clarified how I want to grow as a professional in that field. As a Purdue Liberal Arts student, I have been developing client relationships and working in the field throughout my college career. CLA courses, especially those in the field of communication, are teamwork and people-oriented, which made me feel prepared to collaborate with my fellow interns and help clients feel at ease.
In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our Job-Ready program specifically aided your professional development?
The College of Liberal Arts ensured I had the resources to cover the expenses that arose during my internship experience, allowing me to fully focus on growing as a future legal professional. After participating in the Job-Ready program, I feel prepared to pursue a career in the legal field with confidence. I take pride in being a CLA student, as I know I am surrounded by individuals that truly care about my development as a professional and want to see me succeed.
Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in the Job-Ready program that you find particularly noteworthy?
I really appreciate the support of the Job-Ready team. They were helpful and caring, letting me know I could rely on Purdue resources throughout my internship.
