Affirmative Action Procedures

The College of Liberal Arts is firmly committed to a policy of affirmative action in its employment policies and to a policy of equal access in its educational programs.  After the dean has approved a search and prior to beginning each tenure-track, clinical, research faculty, or lecturer search, department delegate for SuccessFactors should initiate the search process and work with the Head and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, HR and the employment center for information about how these positions are filled. Administrative positions are filled through SuccessFactors as well. If you have questions, contact your departmental business manager; Kirke Willing for clerical/service and administrative/professional staff affirmative action procedures; or Tera Bivins for faculty affirmative action procedures.

Purdue University’s official policy regarding equal employment opportunity is University Policy X.2.2, “Equal Opportunity, Equal Access and Affirmative Action.”  This policy guarantees fairness in employment decisions and states that all persons have equal access to employment opportunities without regard to race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, genetic information, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, disability, or status as a veteran. If you participate in faculty searches, be sure you understand Purdue's Nondiscrimination Policy and abide by it. The College of Liberal Arts has a commitment to both the letter and the spirit of affirmative action.

The office of the Provost has established several faculty hiring initiatives to diversify Purdue’s faculty.  The Strategic Hiring Opportunity Program provides matching funds to recruit faculty members who will contribute to building a more diverse campus though their own diversity, the scholarship of diversity, or life experiences.

The Dual Career Assistance Program provides career accommodations for dual career employees. Additional information is available here.
