Dr. Shorter serves as the leader of the Office of Community Relations and Compliance which supports the UMW mission through providing educational opportunities and programs to ensure that campus is a reflection of excellence.
This includes supporting her team in their pursuits, directing the Dorsey Scholars Program which provides financial support to students who engage in community service, and serving as the administrative sponsor for UMW’sASPIRE Week which is a week-long celebration of UMW’s community values.
Dr. Shorter is an active member of her local church, President of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Fredericksburg Board, and she resides in Fredericksburg with her wonderful husband Gaston.
In her spare time she enjoys helping every member of the UMW community pursue their dreams.
