Barb Michel, EdD is a graduate of the College of Liberal Arts with degrees in Advertising and Art Education. She completed her master’s and doctorate degrees following Purdue.

Barb works in higher education as a professor of art at Huntington University, where she also chairs the Department of Art & Design. With more than 20 years of experience in curriculum development and mentoring college students, she enjoys giving back what her mentors provided her at Purdue. Beyond the classroom she actively serves on a variety of committees, boards, and professional organizations. She also works as a consultant for higher education institutions seeking to develop, expand, or strengthen programs in art and design.

While at Purdue, Barb held leadership roles in organizations including Women in Communication, the National Art Education Association Purdue Student Chapter, Block and Bridle, and Zeta Tau Alpha. She is a lifetime member of the Purdue Alumni Association and enjoys getting back to campus as often as she can.

In addition to following Purdue, Barb enjoys traveling, spending time with her rescue dog, and staying in touch with a tight group of lifelong Purdue friends. She is a proud parent of a daughter who is a current student at Harvard.
