Laboratory for Audio and Music at Purdue (LAMP)

The Laboratory for Audio and Music at Purdue (LAMP) brings together music, audio, and technology through research, composition, performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. LAMP work connects sound analysis and synthesis, AI, sonification, acoustic ecology, human-computer interaction, composition, immersive audio, performance, and education.

Projects

LAMP research focuses on sound-centered initiatives in Sound AI, Sound Health, soundscape and community listening, immersive audio, composition, performance, and interdisciplinary music technology. Examples include Sound AI with Purdue Polytechnic's Guitar Lab, Vital Audio, Citygram, community-centered airplane noise research, and performance-centered creative scholarship. Recital Hall (Elliott 15) supports performance, teaching, research presentations, recording, immersive audio, and networked audio work. The hall includes a Yamaha TF3 mixer, Yamaha TIO stagebox, remote lighting system, and full Dante connectivity.

People and Collaborations

LAMP is directed by Tae Hong Park, with Monte Taylor as co-director, and connects faculty, students, staff, and collaborators across Purdue Music and partner areas. LAMP members and collaborators have included work with composition, music technology, performance, aviation technology, theatre, Purdue Polytechnic's Guitar Lab, Purdue Orchestra, Steinway, and student ensembles.
