Call for Works
Conference Theme
This year, we are continuing with the theme of 'Spaces | Places | Traces,' with the aim of exploring it across various conferences. In March 2024, we focused on this very theme at the Web Audio Conference (WAC), and for 2024, we propose to explore it at the SEAMUS '25 conference. As the boundaries between physical and virtual spaces blur, new opportunities for real-time, non-real-time, and faster-than-real-time engagement have become more accessible than ever, regardless of location or time. The role of sound, audio, and music becomes particularly compelling when considering the sounds of spaces and places in music performance, composition, and research, whether through fixed media, mixed media, interactive works, installations, or research and the study of soundscapes and environmental noise.
Conference Venues: Spaces and Places
We will have events at various venues includig Fowler Hall, The Arts Federation, Pao Hall, and a Late Night venue that will be announced shortly. The main concert venues will have multichannel audio and video projection capabilities. Details regarding sound reinforcement and loudspeaker configuration will be posted shortly with the aim of providing multichannel sound projection.
Special Events
Studio Recording Program
We are partnering with The Arts Federationn (TAF) and the Rec Room to also provide opportunities to record your piece at the TAF recording studio - the idea being that you have the composer, perfomer(s) in one place to rehearse and present a piece ... why not also record? Details regarding this program will be posted shortly include coordination, scheduling, and a small hourly fee.
Kids Program
We are partnering with Purdue's Art Education department to make the conference even more family friendly. This includes a daily "kids" program/workshop to be held at The Arts Federationn (TAF) during the day while parents are attending other conference events such as paper sessions, concerts, and installations. More details regarding this program will be shared shortly.
Hackathon
We are also in the midst of developing a hackathon as part of the SEAMUS 2025 under the conference theme spaces | places | traces through lens of sound and sonic traces that inform spaces and places. More details forthcoming on this shortly.
Submission Information
Submitters to the conference must have an active SEAMUS membership to submit their work. SEAMUS members may submit works in the following categories, Creative Works and
Papers/Demos/Workshops/Installatioins
Currently enrolled students of all levels are also invited to submit works for consideration for the SEAMUS Student Award Competition. Works must be submitted separately to the conference and to the competition.

In addition to general creative works, the Ahn Trio Ensemble (piano and cello) will be accepting submissions for either solo or duo performance. Additional conference performers will be announced shortly. Please submit here.
Presentations/Workshops
Paper presentations and demos relevant to the field of electro-acoustic music may be proposed by individuals or groups. Paper presentations will be 25 minutes with 5 minutes for questions (format will be updated once closer to conference dates). Workshops on topics relevant to the field of electro-acoustic music may be proposed by individuals and groups. Please submit here.
Adjudication Process
SEAMUS adjudication is conducted through a double-blind peer-review and is designed to ensure anonymity and a lack of bias toward any particular composer or piece. However, the conference host will consider technical and logistical feasibility as they program pieces based on their unique abilities to program particular pieces. A full description of SEAMUS adjudication processes is available at this link.
Notifications are made as soon as possible and are typically released in late December 2024 or early January 2025. Please reach out to dir_communications@seamusonline.org with any questions on adjudication or acceptances.
