Suzannah Evans Comfort

Dr. Suzannah Evans Comfort is an associate professor at Indiana University’s Media School and a leading journalism studies scholar whose work focuses on the professional norms, economic pressures, and social forces shaping news production today. Her research examines how journalism evolves under strain, with particular attention to media ethics, environmental journalism, and information ecosystems. Her book, The Environmental Beat: Inside the Struggle to Legitimize the Environment as News, will be published this year. She also led the research team behind Journalism at the Crossroads of America, a comprehensive analysis of news production and challenges in Indiana, published in March 2026.
