Division of Music
The Division of Music in the Patti and Rusty Reuff School of Visual and Performing arts offers courses in Fundamentals of Music, Music Theory, Music History, World Music, Jazz History, Music Appreciation, and Music Education. Music courses are open to students from all Schools and Colleges of the University. Students interested in advanced music study may also complete a fifteen-credit Minor in Theory and History.
NOTE: Students interested in studying music theory who have no previous musical experience are encouraged to take MUS 261, Fundamentals of Music. Students with two or more years of band, orchestra, choir or piano are allowed to enroll in MUS 361 without taking a music theory placement exam. Should there be some question as to which level of music theory would best suit your musical abilities, please contact Dr. Harry Bulow at email@example.com. There are number of Music Theory Placement Exams that are matched to our music theory sequence of courses (MUS 361, Music Theory I, MUS 362, Music Theory II and MUS 363, Music Theory III). For advanced placement in one of these courses or credit by examination, please contact Dr. Bulow.
