How did you get interested in your field of study?
I had worked as an undergraduate research intern in a heat transfer lab. I realized that thermal engineering is an essential research field for developing technologies. That experience led me to do a PhD program at Purdue.
What did you find most beneficial in SCLA 620?
I had learned how to read, listen, and write English, but I didn't properly learn how to speak English. All the prosody rules, including linking and pausing, helped me speak more clearly. Since I learned how to speak English and practice pronunciation skills, I'll keep working on it.
What specific language, communication, and presentation skills did you improve on in SCLA 620?
During 1-1 meetings, I could correct my pronunciation and ask about the subtle differences in pronunciation. The RAV is the most practical skill that I can use both in my research meetings and TA sessions.
