Opportunities to Get Involved with the OEPP
Purdue University benefits from the knowledge and talents of more than 5,000 international graduate students, including in many aspects of its instructional program. In our effort to make sure language is not a barrier, we routinely host undergraduate volunteers, both domestic and international, in our course, SCLA 620 Academic and Professional Communication for International Teaching Assistants. We are so grateful for the assistance that they provide!
Undergraduates engage with the SCLA 620 international graduate students by participating in the presentations and micro-teaching sessions that the graduate students give, sharing insights on the education system and classroom culture in the United States, and providing constructive feedback on the language and communication skills of the graduate students.
By participating in our program, undergraduates hone their ability to navigate language and culture in academic and professional environments. Additionally, they can earn a new line for their CV/resume, in the form of an Intercultural Communication Partner Certificate.
Volunteer opportunities are available on the following dates.
Presentation 2: September 29 through October 2
Presentation 3: October 27 through October 30
Roundtable Conversations: November 12 and 13
Presentation 4: December 1 through December 4
