Yuewei Wang is a student in Industrial and Molecular Pharmaceutics from Heilongjiang, China.

How did you get interested in your field of study?

During my master's research on cancer immunotherapy, noticed that the designed formulations often missed the target tissues. This sparked my curiosity about where they actually go, and that question has driven my research interest ever since.

What did you find most beneficial in SCLA 620?

The most valuable thing I gained from SCLA 620 was confidence, confidence in what I am doing and what I am presenting.

What specific language, communication, and presentation skills did you improve on in SCLA 620?

I learned several strategies to better engage my audience during presentations. For instance, I learned to interact with the audience by asking questions, write key terms on the board to reinforce important concepts, and emphasize my tone when transitioning between topics. These techniques made my presentations more dynamic and helped me connect with my students more eftectively.

What aspects of communicating undergraduate students in SCLA 620 did you find helpful and why?

I found that comprehension checks are very useful. They help keep the audience engaged and build a bridge between me and the students.

Would you recommend SCLA 620 for incoming international student TAs? Why?

Absolutely! Especially for someone who is shy or afraid of speaking English in front of others, just like I was, It is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in an encouraging and supportive environment.
