Huai-Rhin Kim is a Coordinator in the Korean Language Program and a Lecturer in the School of Languages and Cultures. Huai-Rhin is teaching Korean language courses as well as Korean culture and Korean cinema courses.
At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Huai-Rhin eared a B.A. from the Department of Linguistics, an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Ph.D. from the Department of Speech and Hearing Science. Her main research interest, also her dissertation topic, is cultural perspective on writing evaluation of bilingual children. She is passionate about pursuing research on second language acquisition, bilingualism, and intercultural competency, particularly on the topic of Korean language learners and teaching Korean as a foreign language.
Huai-Rhin Kim is a recipient of SLC's Excellence in Teaching Award in 2023 and CLA Outstanding Lecturer Award in 2023.
