What We've Been Doing

Visit to Subaru

Subaru 1
Subaru 2

Every semester students from SPAN 325 (Spanish for Engineering and Technology) and GER 323 (German IV: Science and Engineering) visit the Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant in Lafayette to learn firsthand about topics they had studied in class, including tools and machinery, production processes, and industrial standards, which leads to a more indepth discusion in the classroom afterwards, when students really have a real opportunity to practice the new technical language vocabulary adquired and reflect on what they had learn with this experience.

Hands-on Learning

We have been busy cooking in the course Spanish 485: Food and Culture in the Hispanic World. This time the topic was Spanish food, so we made “pinchos”, stuffed peppers (pimientos rellenos), Tarta de Santiago (almond pie), and three paellas, chicken, seafood, and vegetarian!
