The following scholarships and awards are available if you are pursuing a major or minor in any of the programs offered in the School of Languages and Cultures.

Please note that you are also eligible for any college-wide or university-level scholarships.

There is also a list of other scholarships tailored specifically for students in Languages and Cultures outside of Purdue. While these scholarships are competitive, SLC majors and minors have access to dedicated faculty who are happy to provide recommendation letters, guidance, and support throughout the application process.

NISO SUPPORTED SCHOLARSHIPS

These prestigious scholarships are administered by the National and International Scholarship Office (NISO) here on Purdue campus. Their dedicated staff will guide you through the application process, providing feedback and support.

  • Boren Scholarship:  gives you the opportunity to Study abroad in countries with languages critical to U.S. national security.  
  • Gilman Scholarship: For recipients of federal Pell grants, this scholarship allows you to study abroad or receive an international internship.
  • Schwarzman Scholars Program: allows you to study for one year at Tsinghua University, one of China's leading universities.

  • Critical Language Scholarship (CLS):  The CLS Program provides opportunities for American college and university students to study languages and cultures essential to America's engagement with the world. 
  • Freeman Awards for Study in Asia: provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
