Katherine Dorsett Bennett is a news writer for CNN International, based in Atlanta, Georgia. News consumers can watch CNN International in more than two hundred countries and the brand is available to more than two billion people worldwide.
Bennett has held positions of increasing responsibility during her 25 years with CNN including associate producer, producer, CNN digital copy editor, and international news television writer/producer. She currently writes and produces international stories that appear on the CNN International program "Connect the World with Becky Anderson." She collaborates with journalists from around the world to create daily news content for this live show.
Bennett's CNN career highlights include an Emmy Award for 9/11 coverage, DuPont-Columbia University Award for news coverage of Tsunami Disaster in South Asia, Peabody Award for news coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. She shares all of these awards with the CNN Newsgroup.
Bennett has served as a fellow for the RIAS Berlin Commission and the East-West Center traveling the world with these prestigeious organizations. The East-West Center is designed to foster better relations and understanding among the citizens of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
Bennett spent two years of her 30+ year career working as an undercover travel inspector with Forbes Travel Guide reviewing luxury hotels, restaurants, and spas in both the U.S. and London.
Bennett's first job in the news business was at WFND-TV in the Toledo, Ohio market where she worked as a television reporter.
Bennett is a 1994 graduate of Purdue University (West Lafayette) with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
She is a 1990 graduate of Culver Girls Academy in Culver, Indiana.
