Dave Bangert

Dave Bangert is a reporter and publisher of Based in Lafayette, a local reporting project started on Substack in spring 2021. Before that, he worked as a reporter, editor, and columnist at various points during 32 years at the Lafayette Journal & Courier, and as a reporter for three-years at the Lawrence (Kansas) Journal-World. He grew up in suburban north St. Louis and went to the University of Colorado, mainly to ski, but also to get a journalism degree. He lives in Lafayette with Carol Bangert, who was an editor at the Journal & Courier during her career and is editor of Greater Lafayette Magazine.
