Plagiarism and Technology Concerns

Plagiarism is a serious professional and scholarly issue, and handling it pedagogically is challenging. Students need to know that plagiarism is wrong, but they also need to understand not plagiarizing carries big benefits for their learning and the conversations driving human discovery. This workshop examines definitions and cultural attitudes toward plagiarism, discusses ways to build assignments and activities that resist plagiarism, provides scenarios to help teachers practice deciding how to handle plagiarism, and walks through some digital tools that can be used to diagnose and, combined with conversation in class, teach students how to not plagiarize.

Before starting: have pen and paper for notes and activities, and have your syllabus or one of your current assignments handy.
