About Me

My name is Yuno Kim, and I am from Seoul, South Korea. I am an undergraduate student at Purdue University studying Engineering. I already had experienced English-language academic culture as I graduated from an international school in South Korea.

Why did you come to Purdue?

I chose Purdue because it is widely recognized for engineering and provides strong academic resources and hands-on opportunities. As an Engineering student, I can build a solid foundation in math, science, and engineering principles while exploring different engineering disciplines before selecting a specific major.

Goals and Plans

At Purdue, my short-term goal is to strengthen my fundamentals in engineering and identify the discipline that best fits my skills and long-term interests. I also want to stay active in student organizations to develop a strong campus network. Over the long term, I want to become a capable engineer with strong problem-solving skills and real project experience. After graduation, I hope to work in an engineering field where I can contribute to the community through practical, positive impact.

Experience with PLaCE classes or workshops:

I took PLaCE workshops to improve my academic communication and to gain confidence in participating in classes and group projects. The sessions helped me understand practical strategies for clear speaking and writing in university settings, such as organizing ideas, using appropriate academic tone, and communicating more effectively in teamwork situations.

Purdue Experiences and Memories:

Some of my best Purdue memories come from everyday campus life, seeing the campus early in the morning around sunrise before classes, and spending time around some of the most notable Purdue places like the Bell Tower. I also enjoy studying in places like WALC because it is calm and organized, which helps me focus deeply.

Advice to new Purdue students

Build a consistent routine and find a study space that helps you focus such as WALC. Manage your time by setting priorities, blocking work time, and starting big assignments early. Improve English by using it every day as joining clubs and attending events. Finally, stay connected with student communities so you adjust faster and have support when classes get challenging.
