2026 CALC Faculty Publication Award
Call for Nominations
The Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC) is pleased to announce the CALC Faculty Publication Award, which recognizes outstanding faculty publications that contribute to the field of aging and life course studies. This award highlights research that advances knowledge on aging through peer-reviewed publications and reflects the interdisciplinary nature of CALC’s mission.
Eligibility Criteria
- CALC Affiliation: The award is open to CALC Faculty Associates.
- Publication Requirements: An eligible publication must be peer-reviewed and have a DOI date between 2024 and 2026, with a CALC faculty associate as the lead author (first or last author, depending on the discipline). The publication must be related to aging and the life course, and should contribute to the understanding or advancement of knowledge in these areas.
- Nomination: Faculty may submit their own publication for consideration or be nominated by colleagues or other CALC faculty associates. To nominate a publication, submit a nomination letter detailing its contributions to aging and life course studies, along with a PDF of the article or book. All nominations must be submitted by April 3, 2026 via a Qualtrics survey linked here. Late submissions will not be considered.
Nominees will be evaluated on the following categories:
- Research Excellence (40% of total score): This criterion evaluates the quality of the research presented in the publication. Considers the rigor of the methodology, clarity of the analysis, and the overall academic quality of the publication.
- Significance and Relevance (40% of total score): This criterion evaluates the significance of the publication to the field of aging and life course studies. Considers the publication’s contribution to advancing knowledge, addressing critical issues, or filling gaps in research.
- Ongoing Engagement with CALC (20% of total score): This criterion evaluates the faculty member’s ongoing engagement with CALC, such as their involvement in CALC’s research initiatives, programs, or other activities. Active participation in CALC’s community and initiatives is essential for consideration.
Award Details
The CALC Faculty Publication Award will be presented at the annual CALC symposium in the fall semester. The award recipient is expected to attend the CALC symposium in-person on October 2 2026 to receive the award, which will include a plaque to recognize their scholarly achievements.
