Dance Program Performance Opportunities—PCDC and XSeries
There are four performances created each academic year, two offered in our Dance Studio Theatre, and two on the main stage in the Hansen Theatre, all in Pao Hall. For details on participating in or viewing these performances, read on. Please watch our social media pages for continued updates.
Purdue Contemporary Dance Company
The Dance Program presents one main stage concert per semester with the Purdue Contemporary Dance Company (PCDC), the resident company of the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance. The company, made up of dancers from across campus, performs semi-annual productions on the Hansen Theatre stage in Yue-Kong Pao Hall. Dancers both contribute creatively to the rehearsal process and learn how to perform with technical and expressive proficiency on stage. Dancers of all dance backgrounds are welcome to audition, as PCDC has an emphasis on diverse movement qualities and unique styles of movement experience. Works are choreographed by a mix of faculty, alumni, and select Dance Program students.
PCDC participants must enroll in the Practicum for Dance Performance course (DANC 24500), a requirement for the dance minor.

Complete the digital audition form at the beginning of the semester, or no later than 3pm on the date of auditions.

During the audition dancers learn and perform short movement phrases. PCDC is open to all Purdue students, including all majors and all movement experiences.

XSERIES 2024 – 2025
This performance series is produced and directed by Dance Program students. It is open to all Purdue students, and does not involve an audition. Students can choreograph and/or perform in any and all of the following aspects of the XSeries, as well as working behind the scenes in technical and management roles.

Dance Xchange 2024 -2025

These informal showings are a space for works in process to be shown and receive constructive feedback from everyone in the room. They are required for participants in the XSeries concerts, but are also open for other Dance Program students with creative works in progress.
