Theatre BA - Acting Concentration

Angels In AmericaThe Acting Concentration in the Theatre Major - BA at Purdue offers the best of two worlds: students gain the benefits of a broad, liberal arts based education in all aspects of theatre, along with specified training in acting.

Students in the Acting Concentration progress through a four-level acting sequence, also studying voice, movement, dance, and special topics and skills in performance. Upon completion, students may opt to pursue a career in the theatre, choose a communication-related career, or explore advanced training and/or graduate study in performance or a variety of fields.

In addition to coursework, students in the Acting Concentration at Purdue have several opportunities to perform on stage in one of the two theatres or performance laboratories, ranging from productions in the season directed by faculty and guest artists to the Schrader Workshop series, to open mics, and student directing projects. Opportunities are available from the first semester across all years of undergraduate study.

The curriculum of the Acting Concentration builds on the foundations in text analysis and introductory classes in performance and design, to specialize in acting, voice, movement and special skills classes in performance, as well as production related work.
