Inspired by the legacy of Purdue’s own Senator Birch Bayh ('51, HDR '65), the Program on American Institutional Renewal (PAIR) seeks to advance the generation, communication, and use of new knowledge about the workings of America's governing institutions.

PAIR brings together scholars, students, and practitioners interested in improving the workings of legislatures, courts, executive agencies, and other institutions.

We believe American institutions must have capacity to meet our most pressing problems. To this end, PAIR works to advance reforms that incentivize politicians and public servants to address those problems while hewing closely to the ideals of a free society.
