Engagement

We are a Community of Thinkers and Doers!

Our department is always excited to provide opportunities for our students and faculty to come together. We do that in a number of ways, including:

  • Wisdom Wednesdays are informal, community-building hangouts on the first Wednesday of the month during the Fall and Spring semesters. Find us on social media to learn more!
  • The Undergraduate Philosophy Society(UGPS) meets weekly to discuss various topics of interest to club members. The UGPS also offers opportunities to add to your leadership profile! The student board organizes and hosts all club activities.
  • The Women in Philosophy Society (WIPS) meets monthly to support underrepresented minorities in philosophy. Their vision is to be a safe haven for respectful and rational philosophical activity.
  • The Undergraduate Philosophy Conference is an annual event where undergraduate students from Purdue and surrounding Universities are invited to come present their best philosophical work to their peers.
  • And a large array of other events including invited Colloquia Speakers, who are professionals in philosophy and other related fields and give talks on their most recent research; Game On! events where students and faculty are invited to come together to play their favorite board and video games; Philosophical Movie Nights are times to gather with popcorn and your favorite snack to watch a movie, and then discuss the philosophical themes in the movie that everyone found interesting; and so much more!
