Procedural Texts and Technologies

Procedural texts, like text-based adventure games, can be used in the writing classroom to introduce a number of different concepts, including digital rhetoric, narrative structure, organization, audience interaction, and drafting/revision. This workshop positions text-based adventures as artifacts for analysis, and introduces one platform instructors and students might use to create these types of texts: Twine, an open-source tool for telling non-linear, interactive stories.

Before starting: consider the ways that games and writing intersect.
