Certificate Requirements

Course Requirements

In order to complete the Medical Humanities Certificate, students are required to take 18 credit hours (6 courses) from the list of course offerings, with at least 6 hours from each of the Social Science and Humanities categories. Please see Purdue Catalog for more information on the Medical Humanities Certificate requirements. *Note: Students are no longer required to complete a Capstone project, but will need to take at least one 400-500 level course from the list for the Capstone requirement.

For course offerings this semester, see Current Course Offerings.

Students outside of the College of Liberal Arts will need to meet with their advisor in their home college in order to get approval.

Other electives not listed under “Course Offerings” may be counted towards the Medical Humanities Certificate. Please contact Adrienne Albrecht for permission.

Enrollment in Certificate

Though there is no formal application process, students must still seek approval from their advisors and the Medical Humanities Director in order to enroll in and complete the certificate. If you are interested in the certificate, or have already completed courses which count towards it – but are not yet enrolled – please contact Adrienne Albrecht. Students may enroll in the certificate at any time during the course of their studies at Purdue, but must have sought approval and completed all course requirements prior to graduation.
