Purdue University finished second in the Solar Decathlon 2011, a solar house competition in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Purdue's INhome solar house earned a total of 931.390 points out of a possible 1,000. It was second only to the University of Maryland with 951.151 points.

 

An exhibition of interdisciplinary undergraduate student works from Fabian Winkler's Fall course AD41700 Computer Games is currently being shown in the display case in front of Purdue's Envision Center for Data Perceptualization (in the underground hallway connecting PMU and Steward Center, right around the corner from Starbucks). Visual Communications Design/Interaction Design

 

The Department of Art and Design offers undergraduate concentrations, majors, and minors in Art Education, Art History, Fine Arts, Photography,  and Visual Communications Design and professional programs in Industrial Design and Interior Design. The MFA is offered in all areas except Art History; the Ph.D. in Art Education is offered in conjunction with the College of Education. These undergraduate and graduate degree programs offer an extensive range of focused investigations into the making, studying and teaching of the visual arts.
