Cody Blake Wilson has thrived when he's synchronized his core personal values (Stewardship, Authenticity, Beauty, Connectedness, and Tenacity) with his professional and personal work. Wilson currently serves the State of Indiana as the Director of the Education and Economic Development Division within the State Budget Agency. In his role, Wilson acts as fiscal advisor to the Governor’s Office on legislation and agency matters related to education and economic development and leads the oversight of relevant state agencies' budget development and spending.
Prior to coming to public service, Wilson worked in operations and risk management at Generation USA, a nonprofit backed by BlackRock, McKinsey & Company, Microsoft and Verizon. The team at GenUSA worked to rethink and transform the education to employer pipeline by creating tailored training programs for well-paying, stable, and in-demand careers that focused on training the behavior skills and mindsets that made successful entry-level employees, alongside the technical skills and credentials. Wilson started his career with Teach For America, where he taught kindergarten and first grade in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood of Indianapolis at KIPP Indy Public Schools.
He eventually moved into an administrative role that focused on the business and operations of the school. Wilson has earned a BS in Sociology, MS in Communication, and Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resource Management from Purdue University, as well as his Masters in Teaching from Marian University.
When not at work, Cody can be found in his Irvington home with his fiancé, Ty, and three pets: Alphinaud, Alisaie, and Francois (Frank). Cody and Ty are avid supporters of the performing arts scene in Indianapolis, including the Indianapolis Ballet, Dance Kaleidoscope, and Indy Drag Theatre. Cody has published a novel and handful of novellas, creates homemade stuffed animals, blankets, and home decor, and will one day finally get the basement remodeled (any day now).
