He earned his Ph.D. in religious studies from Northwestern University and specializes in the interconnection of mythic narratives and the reimagination of religious figures in popular culture. He is also the author of Religion and Myth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2021) and Malleable Mara: Transformations of a Buddhist Symbol of Evil (2019).
