Zach Hodges at Purdue
Unsure about his future aspirations, Zach started Purdue in exploratory studies. In his search of possible academic aspirations, he thought he’d want to pursue a degree in Education.
In his pursuit for an ideal career path, he knew he wanted a professional degree to work in an office, in his own words, “I guess it’s not everyone’s dream, but it was mine—I thought it’d be fun.”
He enrolled in the course, Engaging in English, where Dr. Bradley Dilger (insert
position) talked about Professional Writing. He thought it was a fit for him.
During his time at Purdue he was an executive board member in the Student Editing and Publishing Association and the _____ remind me of what PBC stands for! Experiences like this helped him gain the skills necessary that he applies to this day at his job.
Zach After Graduation
Today, Zach works for Eli Lily and Company as a ramp quality specialist, essentially communication specialist. Before landing his job, he had been an intern for a compnay called Authentics. He had heard about it from Professor Jennifer Bay; she had a graduate student who happened to be hiring at that time.
Hi current job landed because of his application through LinkedIn. He explains that he interned with a company that is a customer of Eli Lilly and Company. Having had the experience working in healthcare and having the skllls from an adjeacent role impacted his acceptance.
His Advice to Incoming Students
"College is a great time to live and enjoy life. Build your network, make friends. Use your time wisely. If you have a free summer, volunteer or intern-paid or unpaid- find an entryway for your resume, do it!"
