As a specialist in translation pedagogy and second language acquisition, Vanesa Cañete Jurado’s areas of expertise include transmedia storytelling, localization studies, discourse analysis, digital multiliteracies, and digital media cultures. Her work explores how translation (across languages, modalities, and technological platforms) functions as a dynamic tool for learning, literacy development, and cultural engagement. Using an interdisciplinary lens, her recent projects have focused on multimodal writing pedagogies in higher education, transnational narratives in contemporary Latin American and Spanish film and television, and the sociocultural dimensions of public health localization. She is also engaged in research on the curation and transmission of cultural memory through media, with emphasis on the role of translation in sustaining and recontextualizing cultural heritage across digital platforms.

Cañete Jurado received her Ph.D. in Translation Studies from Binghamton University, where she also earned an M.A. in Comparative Literature and an M.A. in Italian. She holds a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting from Universidad de Málaga.
