Sebastian Graham

Sebastian R. Graham is Assistant Director of the Cornerstone Institute for Civic Thought and Assistant Teaching Professor in Purdue University's Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts Program. His research focuses on civic education, statesmanship, political rhetoric, and the relationship between liberal education and democratic citizenship. He has published on civic education, classical political thought, and liberal education and is currently completing a book manuscript on the role of statesmanly rhetoric in sustaining constitutional democracy.

At Purdue, Graham has played a leading role in the development of curricular and co-curricular programming in civic education. He directs Purdue's Undergraduate Reading Group for American Civics and leads the Purdue Summer Civics Program for High School Teachers. His teaching and research interests include ancient, modern, and American political thought, politics and literature, constitutionalism, and civic education.Prior to joining Purdue, Graham taught at Baylor University and the University of Texas at Dallas. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Texas.
