Maria Goyette

Maria Goyette is an Assistant Teaching Professor for the Cornerstone Institute for Civic Thought within Purdue University’s Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts Program. She received her PhD in political science from Baylor University and her B.A. in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College.  At Baylor she studied political theory and American politics, focusing on ancient, early modern, and American political thought. Her dissertation was on Aristotle on thumos, and she is especially interested in the ancients on questions regarding moral virtue, love, friendship, and education. Prior to coming to Purdue, Maria led seminars on American politics as a predoctoral fellow at Cleveland State University’s Center for Civics, Culture, and Society, and taught courses on political philosophy and the American Constitution at Baylor University.
