Lillian (Lilly) Feder

Dr. Lilly Feder is a former athlete, athletic administrator, and sports researcher whose work addresses the intersection between public relations and organizational behavior in the context of sport. She evaluates the ways in which communication can empower athletes and athletic organizations to more effectively navigate the challenges they encounter as public-facing individuals and entities. Her work to date has addressed athlete activism, crisis, and resilience through primarily qualitative and rhetorical scholarly approaches. Her research aims to further develop our theoretical understanding of communication in sport contexts and to inform best practices for sport personnel and organizations. In her previous role, Dr. Feder co-created the sports communication major and minor at Marquette University. She also consults with athletes and coaches to further develop their capacity for resilience-building. Much of her approach to research and teaching are informed by her own experiences in athletics as well.

Dr. Feder played basketball at UC San Diego and has experience working in sports information, marketing, fan engagement, and media relations with Purdue University, UC San Diego, and the Indiana Pacers.
