Johari Tello is a second-year master’s student at Purdue University pursuing both a Master of Arts in History, with a concentration in Science, Technology, and Medicine, and a Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Family and Community Health. Working under the direction of Dr. Michelle LaBonte, her research centers on the history of public health and public health education within marginalized communities in the United States. Johari’s broader interests include the intersections of health, education, and social equity, as well as the ways historical perspectives can inform contemporary public health practice.

Outside of research, Johari is passionate about health advocacy and community engagement.
