Jesse Njus

Jesse Njus is a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Cornerstone. Previously she taught at Fordham University, NYU Tisch, and was an ACLS New Faculty Fellow at UC-Santa Barbara. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University’s Interdisciplinary Program in Theatre and Drama. Dr. Njus studies medieval performance and puppetry, investigating the intersection between action and performance while exploring the limits of humanity and materiality. She also directs (two favorites include Ionesco’s Rhinoceros and Treadwell’s Machinal), and she has published numerous articles and reviews in journals including Theatre Journal, Fifteenth-Century Studies, Puppetry International Research, Puppetry Journal, and Church History and in edited collections such as Food and Theatre on the World Stage and Mystics, Goddesses, Lovers, and Teachers.
